The Institute of Research Development & Training is the only institute of its kind, established by state government, as a part of Department of Technical Education, U.P. having an independent status and is situated in its own campus. Keeping in view ,the fast growing advancements of technology in its emerging areas, need of research and development and trained manpower, led to establishment of this institute in 1978, as a part of Directorate of Technical Education. Later on, with the expansion of activities, it was established as independent organization in 1984.
The institute's function is co-ordinate by these three cells.

Shri F.R. Khan, Director IRDT U.P. Kanpur: Mr. F.R. Khan is the Director of Institute of Research Development & Training, Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur. He is also serving the charge of Additional Director Directorate of Technical Education U.P. Kanpur. He has more than 10 years of Industrial Experience in Chemical Sector serving various Technical as well administrative position . He has technical expertise in Lubricating oil & Grease. Mr. F.R. Khan joined the technical education department 28 year ago and served important administrative positions in department as Secretary Joint Entrance Examination Counsil, Lucknow, Secretary Board of Technical Education and Secretary Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee, Lucknow . He is very hard working and enthusiastic person with supporting attitude.
Mr. F.R. Khan currently holds the position of Director at the Institute of Research Development & Training, Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur. In addition to this role, he is also entrusted with the responsibilities of an Additional Director at the Directorate of Technical Education U.P., Kanpur. With over a decade of extensive industrial experience in the Chemical Industry, Mr. Khan has served in various technical and administrative capacities during his career.
His primary technical expertise lies in the field of Lubricating oil & Grease and also in hazardous solid waste management. Mr. F.R. Khan embarked on his journey with the technical education department nearly 28 years ago, and throughout his tenure, he has undertaken crucial administrative roles within the department. Some of his notable positions include serving as the Secretary, Joint Entrance Examination Council U.P., Secretary, Board of Technical Education UP, and Secretary of the Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee U.P. Lucknow.
Known for his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm, Mr. Khan is recognized as a hardworking individual with a supportive disposition .
